Apply for Funding

THE APPLICATION:  Any 501(c)3 human service agency or program that has been serving basic human needs in the Columbia Gorge (Hood River, Klickitat, Skamania, Wasco and Sherman counties) for a minimum of two years by the time of the application deadline is welcome to apply for funding.  The application process begins on January 30th, 2023 and will need to be completed by March 1st, 2023 .  Please contact our office to request that an application packet be emailed directly to you at: unitedwayofthecolumbiagorge@gmail.com

Each program applying for funds is required to have the complete application returned to the United Way of the Columbia Gorge by:

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1st by 5pm.

ONLINE APPLICATION:

REQUIRED INFORMATION:  In addition to a completed application and financial form (found in the packet), each agency/program is required to submit: (1) proof of their 501(c)(3) status, (2) a copy of their most recent 990 Federal Tax Form and/or audit, (3) a list of their Board of Directors/Commissioners.

THE PRESENTATION:  A representative from each applying program is also required to give a 10 minute (or less) presentation to the Allocations Committee, followed by a 10 minute question/answer period.  Presentations are done late February/early March and will be over Zoom this year. You will select your preferred presentation times in the application.

Please be prepared to discuss:

  • Open with a brief description of what you do/number of people served.
  • What, in general, would you do with funding provided by United Way?
  • What are the overall goals your organization hopes to achieve this year?
  • Discuss the ratio of Overhead Expenses versus Direct Client Services.

We require that the representative from your agency be well-informed about the content of the application - including the financial reporting form.

Each year, our Allocations Committee has some returning and some new committee members. Please present your program under the assumption that the Committee has no prior knowledge of your program.

Please be prepared, succinct, and well-informed about your agency, program and project and clearly communicate how your program is addressing the needs of the community. We are eager to learn how you are changing peoples' lives.
