It was a lovely summer evening as folks gathered at the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn on Wednesday, July 11th to honor the tremendous work of the thirty human service programs that received United Way funding in 2012. United Way Board President Dave Scarborough presented checks to representatives of these programs while thanking them for their critical work in our community. This year, $135,000 was the amount allocated to local programs and Scarborough is optimistic that this number will increase next year. Many United Way volunteers were also on hand to share in the celebration of the collaborative efforts of the United Way of the Columbia Gorge. The group paused for a photo at the end of the evening.
