Mark Nilsson, one of Hood River’s most talented and treasured artists, will host you and 7 of your friends in a “follow along paint class”, where everyone gets to do a painting and take it home.  Mark’s painting party will include wine tasting and appetizers, plus “special surprises” for everyone.  This exclusive evening of paint, wine and food is sure to invoke a fun, creative spirit in all lucky enough to attend.  In Mark’s words, “In our high-tech, often stressful, world, I believe that original art is attractive because it is a return to when things are created by hand, is one of a kind, and thus enhances our busy lives and makes us, quite simply, happy!” (Maximum: 8)

Your Own Tuscan Home in Cortona, Italy (for 4)

Cortona is the jewel of medieval Tuscan hill towns. It is ideally situated 2 hours north of Rome and 1 1/2 hours south of Florence. Cortona is well known as being home to the best selling book and movie, "Under the Tuscan Sun". The road up the hill winds through olive groves, vineyards, and farmhouses and arrives at the entrance of Cortona's ancient walls. The view of the valley below is one of the most spectacular in all of Italy, stretching out to Lake Trasimeno, Montepulciano and beyond. Along with museums, churches and other historical sights, Cortona offers a wealth of good restaurants, cafes, shops and entertainment. It has successfully managed to retain its local, historical character without selling out to trinket-souvenir shops that have dominated so many other Italian towns.

Your Cortona 7 night stay will be based at Casa Pontormo, an enchanting home very close to downtown.  The owners have taken great care in furnishing and restoring this delightful property.  The street entrance leads directly to the open plan kitchen, living and dining room, with a half bathroom on this floor, as well.  The next floor has another cozy living room and the master bedroom.  The last floor has a bedroom with two twin beds which may be converted into a king size bed and it’s own en suite bathroom, complete with air conditioning. Casa Pontormo embodies traditional Tuscan style to the highest degree, which creates a spacious and welcoming atmosphere for guests.  The winner of this fabulous trip will get careful attention, guidance and support by the home’s owners who have created an immaculate home, with all amenities and modern comforts to ensure a wonderful experience. (Trip must be used within 2 years of purchase date.)
